Is Your Child Failing Reading Class?
March 7, 2009 by candy4wayphonics
There are many Johnnys in this country who cannot read because – well – they were never taught how to read.
Yes, they went to school.
Yes, they went through the school’s reading program.
However, that doesn’t mean that those little Johnnys were taught how to read. In fact, for thousands of American school children, the reading classes they have received have not taught them how to read.
By read, I mean that a child can start at the beginning of a word and sound out the word from left to right. He can blend together, from left to read, ALL the sounds in the word. If a child has not been taught how to do that, then that child has not been taught how to read.
Sight reading is NOT reading. Figuring out what a word is by the first letter of the word or by the picture on the page or by memorizing the word from a word wall is not learning to read.
A child should not have to put together a set of clues in order to “figure out” what a word is.
He should not have to look at the picture on the page and guess what the word is.
He should not have to look at the shape of the word and guess what the word is.
He should not have to look at the letter at the beginning of the word and then decide which word would make sense in the sentence and then guess what the word is.
A child should be able to read through a word by blending together all the sounds in that word from left to right and know, for certain, exactly what that word is.
Moms and Dads, don’t settle for clues and guessing when your child CAN LEARN to actually “read.”
Here is a TRUE STORY. There was once a little girl named Candy who couldn’t read. Today, however, Candy can read every word on the page. What happened? Candy learned to read using a 4WAY Phonics system of reading. Your child can use that same system. It’s a system that’s affordable, it’s written specifically for parents, it’s parent/friendly, and it’s that same system that taught little Candy to read.
Parents, if your child is struggling with reading, please try systematic 4WAY Phonics before you allow your levels of frustration to peak!
Just like little Candy, who left her look/say reading group as the POOREST reader in the class to attend systematic phonics lessons in a little white cottage behind the school, and then returned to her regular classroom as the BEST reader in her reading group, your child can learn to read, too, by using a proper systematic phonics program. Soon, your child could be reading fun stories written with connective words, stories that allow Moms and Dads and their children to talk, compare, evaluate, and make inferences
The Candy 4WAY Phonics Program, Age 4 through Grade 4, is available FOR LESS THAN $10.00, and it includes EVERYTHING:
82 pages of Intensive Phonics Instructions
100 Daily Blend Lessons
20 Sequenced Story Readers
Multisensory Helps
Rhyming Flashcard Charts
Rhyming Phonics Charts
Phonics Drill
Spelling Rules
This program even shows you how to ”sound out” the sight words.
Don’t settle for clues and guessing. Your child deserves more.
