The Hulbert Homeschool Week offers participants a chance to come together for a week of fun and adventure, gathering with other homeschoolers to learn, form lasting friendships, and build a true working community. Whether it be performing at the talent show, picking up a new skill, speaking out in community meeting, or living away from home for a week, during the Hulbert Homeschool Week participants have the opportunity to explore, to learn about themselves, and to take risks in a supportive and caring atmosphere. *The Program: In small group "ExplorOptionals", children choose from activities including mountain hikes, environmental science lessons, outdoor cooking, arts and crafts activities, and the famous Hulbert High Ropes Course. In whole group gatherings and evening activities, participants and staff work together to develop a sense of community where each individual has a voice and a role to play in the community. For part of each day, homeschoolers participate in a "Core Group" led by a Hulbert Instructor. The Core Group works together to solve problems and face challenges through activities from Hulbert's Teambuilding Curriculum, and through our mealtime "Jobs Program". The "Core Group" is an excellent place to meet new friends and to practice new skills. *The Staff: Instructors at Hulbert Outdoor Center are dedicated, caring, professional adults. All have significant experience working with children. Many have additional experience and training in education, outdoor skills, and other relevant areas. All staff members strive to facilitate a positive and enriching learning environment. *The Facility: The Hulbert Outdoor Center is located on the shores of Lake Morey in Fairlee, Vermont. We are easily accessible from Interstate 91. Our programs utilize local, state and national forest land, in addition to the 1,270 acres of forests, bluffs and rolling countryside owned by The Aloha Foundation, Inc. Our single-sex cabins provide comfortable accommodations for participants. Each cabin has electricity, heat, bathrooms with running water and bedrooms with bunkbeds. Cabins are supervised by live-in Hulbert Staff and, or adult volunteers. The chefs in our nut-free kitchen prepare healthy, hearty, and of course, delicious family style meals in our dining room. We strive to meet any and all specific dietary needs, including; vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, etc.
