There is so much changing in education these days that I have trouble keeping track. Part of it is understanding the original landscape. For instance, who are the Core Knowledge people? They seem focused on a curriculum which is very explicit and heavy on mastery of specific knowledge and skills. My problem with them is that they seem to be competing against…I’m not sure who. They spend a lot of time talking about fuzzy efforts to water down curriculum but then, I’m not sure who they are talking about.
Are they against the Bush NCLB plans? It appears that everyone is. I read an interesting article last week about homeschool curriculum which I would suggest everyone take a look at. I think it’s interesting how different each state’s rules are about homeschooling. Take for instance the homeschooling rules in Florida and compare them with California homeschooling. If it weren’t for the online parent support discussions, I would be soooo lost.
